When I tweeted that the sundae set at Namseoul Abai Sundae was delicious, someone recommended Jeil Eobeoi Sundae near Namyeong Station. Apparently it had been featured as an honest restaurant on the TV show Food X-Files. I went the very next day. Sometimes in life a day comes when you just want to eat sundae without limit.

Some odd shop had appeared where this place used to be, so I wandered around a bit. Turns out that once business took off, the landlord told them to get out… and then opened a sundaeguk place of his own in that very spot. Even if there’s nothing legally wrong with that, it’s not something a decent human being should do. Where on earth do people keep their conscience?
Anyway, the new place is cleaner and bigger, so I suppose it’s a blessing in disguise. I hope business keeps going well for them.

Behold the glory of Gangbuk! That said, the sundae at Namseoul Abai Sundae is very appealing too, so do go and try it.
You need a sundae set on the menu to sit alone with a glass of soju and a bowl of sundaeguk. These days a lot of sundaeguk places only sell assorted sundae platters instead of a sundae set, which makes eating that way difficult. Wonderful places like this, so convenient for lonely middle-aged gourmets, deserve to thrive.
