I had heard there was a sundae place with real character in Euljiro 4-ga, but the opening hours are unpredictable, so it took a few failed attempts before I finally got in.

The front entrance

It is tucked away in a corner and a bit hard to find. The kind of spot where you would never expect a restaurant to be. These days a map app search takes you straight there, so I got there without wandering around, but in the old days I might have given up halfway.

Modeum sundae (assorted sundae platter), small

This is what you get for 7,000 won. Elsewhere they could easily charge 12,000 to 15,000 won for this, and the amount was simply unbelievable. The quality is first-rate, no question, and the vegetable sundae, which I tried for the first time that day, has a charm of its own that is different from regular sundae.

Soup came with it too.

Order one small modeum sundae, the soup comes with it, and if you have a bottle of soju alongside, it comes to exactly one 10,000-won note. I wonder if there is anywhere else this satisfying these days.

Sundaeguk

It felt wrong not to order one, so I gave it a try. The soup base is the same, but with the extra ingredients in it the flavor gets deeper. Totally satisfying both as a meal and as something to drink with. I would love to come back when I have the time.
