I heard there was a great sundaeguk place in Euljiro, so one evening I went on my own. Sansugapsan is so famous that I doubt there is a single sundae fan who has not heard of it, which makes writing this post feel a bit daunting.

The sign

It is about halfway between Euljiro 3-ga and 4-ga. The place is not small, but it was packed, with people lining up outside. Eating alone here is a little awkward, so if you can, I would recommend going with a group.

Sundaeguk

Since I was alone I kept it simple and ordered a bowl of sundaeguk, and I had no idea the gap with Gangnam would be this wide. The meat, the broth and the sundae are all top class, and it is cheaper than Gangnam too. If it were near me I might be going three times a week.

I enjoyed it so much that the second time I came back with a friend.

Soju

With food this good, you cannot not have a glass of soju.

This alone is plenty delicious.

Generous portions and the taste is the best. It has been a long time since I had suyuk this fresh. The sundae itself was really delicious too. That day we skipped the sundaeguk and moved on to Eulji Myeonok for round two.

Mul-naengmyeon

It tasted the same as it always has. Somehow that was reassuring. Times change, but the great restaurants of Euljiro do not. There was an accident at Sansugapsan a little while ago and it is currently closed, so I hope it reopens soon.
