After leaving Dining in Space I wandered around here and there and ended up at the Shinsegae Department Store. The Shinsegae main store is really hot these days, and there is plenty to see.
Sardine chocolates
They looked so curious that I had to take a photo. They are not cheap, and I had bought a lot of chocolate around Valentine’s Day, so I passed this time. Not sure if they still sell them. If they do, I would kind of like to try one..
La Maison du Chocolat
I used to go there often in Japan, so it does not really spark my interest. Chocolate of this level has been coming into Korea in a big way by now anyway.
Japan’s three great udon
They even sell things like this. I have a feeling I saw them at E-mart too, though..
Selling Mikkeller like this..
Shinsegae really is something. Going by the food hall alone, it has to be the number one department store.
Boud’chou cheese
This is the cheese I mostly ate in Japan, and there it was, sitting right on the shelf in Korea! So I snapped it up on the spot. The taste and aroma are very strong.. well, stinky, so I am not sure people used to ordinary cheese will like it, but for me it is a cheese I really enjoy.
The cheeses I bought that day
The Chaumes is elegant and delicious too. The gorgonzola is just too strong. All three are pungent cheeses, but if you are into that kind of thing, do pay a visit to the food hall at the Shinsegae main store. I cannot recall seeing cheeses like these anywhere else. Plenty of places sell mild stuff like Emmental or Gouda, mind you.
The giant cookie I bought at IKEA
It tastes a bit like scorched rice, and topping it with cheese makes it absolutely amazing.
Topped with gorgonzola..
Someone get me a red wine!
Topped with Chaumes
The smoothness of fermented milk fat is somehow exotic. It is a taste full of charm that you cannot help but fall for once you have tried it. I think cheese may be the most delicious way in the world to eat fat.
