I had plans with a young gourmet friend near Sindorim, and after wondering where to go we ended up at Jeongin Myeonok in Gwangmyeong. You can take Line 7, and the bus gets you there quickly too. Actually I have ended up in Gwangmyeong several times because of Jeongin Myeonok, and every time I discover something new. The market is excellent, there is a furniture complex nearby, and a bus gets you to IKEA or Costco in no time. It made me feel how much life changes just by heading out to the suburbs of Seoul.

Simple, as you would expect from a naengmyeon place.

Good price, good quality. The soju went down fast.
Bibim naengmyeon
It is makguksu style, and it is the best bibim naengmyeon I have ever had. This was my second time and my opinion has not changed.
Mul naengmyeon
Somehow the naengmyeon seems to get tastier every time, but that is probably just my imagination. I am no naengmyeon expert, after all.
I wondered where to go for round two, but unfortunately I do not know the Gwangmyeong area well. So we came back to Sindorim, where there are at least some restaurants open late, but I had no idea whether any of them were good. So we just dropped into Bongu Beer for something light.
Bongu Beer
It was my first visit, and two beers plus fries came to about 10,000 won. I had no idea it was this cheap. That must be why it is so wildly popular. Well, it did not taste good, of course.
Fries
I would rather have something proper than something cheap, but surprisingly few places stay open late. In the end we left Bongu Beer and went to a world beer bar, but it really is not easy to find something to eat in this neighbourhood. At times like this I really envy Hongdae and Gangnam. That must be why everyone heads to Hongdae or Gangnam to drink. Anyway, it was a really fun night right to the end. I will have to arrange another little impromptu foodie meetup next time.
