Jeongin Myeonok, a Naengmyeon Place in Yeouido

I had some business in Yeouido on the weekend, but Yeouido being what it is, hardly any restaurants are open on weekends. So I could not make it to the place I had originally planned on, and dropped into Jeongin Myeonok instead. Jeongin Myeonok is not a naengmyeon place worth a special trip, but around there you will not find many places with this kind of value for money.

Jeyuk (boiled pork)

It is 20,000 won a plate, but the quality was good and the portion was generous. Compared with the jeyuk at other naengmyeon places, in terms of value for money it still ranks at the number one level in Seoul. Of course, value for money is not everything.

Bibim naengmyeon

jeonginmyeonok

An overwhelming portion. It comes out like a large-size order at one of those naengmyeon places charging over 10,000 won. Thought of that way, it is at a level where you could call it half the price of other naengmyeon places. For those who think of a bowl of naengmyeon as a full meal, I think it would be just right. Of course, I do wish the noodles were a bit better..

Broth

If you ask for the naengmyeon broth on its own, they will bring it out for you. Again, the broth is fine, but the noodles..

A visit where the unexpectedly good value of the jeyuk took me by surprise. Maybe the right way to use this place is to just sip some of the naengmyeon broth and go for the side dishes instead. Not sure when I will be visiting next, though.
