I must have been doing a lot of good deeds lately, because a gift arrived from Japan.
Sendai’s famous gyutan (beef tongue) jerky and an almond pie.

A specialty of the Sendai region. Like most Japanese regional specialties, nothing especially remarkable taste-wise.
The almond pie
Decent enough.
The jerky looks roughly like this.
Nothing special flavor-wise, but it made a fine snack to go with drinks.
Sculpin
A beer that has been getting praise everywhere lately for being delicious. Well.. it lives up to the praise, the taste really is good~
CHIMAY
This one was also a recommendation, and while it is a bit pricey, it has a refined, high-class taste. Among the beers people have recommended to me, hardly any have been a miss (Twitter recommendations excepted). Price aside, you can now drink most of the good beers in Korea too. My only worry is whether the liquor tax will go up.. how much tax should you really have to pay just to drink a good beer, and thinking about how that tax money gets spent gives me a headache. I am starting to wonder whether it is about time I learned how to brew at home.
