On a Saturday in June when it looked like it might rain, I suddenly got a craving for Jeongin Myeonok and headed for Yeouido. I had originally planned to cycle there, but not wanting to get soaked I ran instead, and maybe the training lately has paid off, because although it was a fair distance it was doable. On the way back, though, the rain won and I took the subway.
The menu
Considering what Pyeongyang naengmyeon places charge these days, it is very reasonable. It is almost surprising that a place where you can eat Pyeongyang naengmyeon at this price still exists in central Seoul.
Side dishes
The usual naengmyeon-place side dishes. You can put them in the naengmyeon or just eat them as they are.
Naengmyeon
I liked the broth, but the noodles left a lot to be desired. That said, the portion of noodles alone is the size of a large order at other naengmyeon places. You would have to call the value for money outstanding.
Close-up of the noodles
Well, yes.. it used to get a lot of praise for being delicious, so I will just have to believe it once was. If the noodles go back to how they used to be I would happily come again, but if not I doubt I will be back. There are plenty of good restaurants clustered around here, so next time I should try somewhere else. Before that, though, it needs to cool down a bit for running to be bearable.
