I’m not really a barley-rice person, but one way or another I ended up in a situation where I had to have a spring bowl of boribap, so off I went to Gangnam Station. There are plenty of famous boribap places, but if you want a safe bet close to home, nothing beats Sawol-e Boribap.
Sawol-e Boribap is near Gangnam Station. Right next door is a place called Miz Container, and business there was booming; the wait seemed to be about an hour. From what I found online it looks like great value for money, but that day I stuck to the plan and went into Sawol-e Boribap.

The ingredients are decent and the portion is very generous.
Grilled Norwegian mackerel
Look at the size of it. One of these has enough volume to get you through three bottles of soju.
Plain rice with doenjang soup
It comes out neat and tidy.
The side dishes
Even if you stuff yourself here, the bill comes to under 20,000 won. There may be tastier places, but I doubt you’ll often find value for money like this.
