Mon chouchou, famous for its Dojima Roll, has opened a cafe on Garosu-gil. The Dojima Roll only recently arrived in Korea and is so popular that getting hold of one is still not an easy thing. For a shop that hot to open, at this timing, not just a store but a proper dessert cafe.. I think that is pretty impressive.

The front entrance

It is toward the far end of Garosu-gil. Half of it is the cafe and half is the shop, and both sides were packed. Since they had only just opened, the service was not all that smooth yet, but the Japanese-style courtesy left an impression. The owner’s twin brother had come over in person to wait tables, which shows how much care they are putting into this place.

A glass of water too

Even the water comes in a wine glass, along with a wet towel. It was a bit hectic with all the people, but apart from that, the atmosphere and service were completely Japanese. You could tell me this was a dessert shop in Osaka or Kobe and I would believe it. There are places doing Japanese-style desserts in Korea, but this might be the first one that feels this Japanese.

Coffee

I ordered it as a set with the Dojima Roll, and as you can see, the cup is cute and even the sugar is pretty. Tastes good too, of course. A dessert shop with good coffee is something to be grateful for.

Dojima Roll

The cream is so soft. Keeping it that soft is not easy, which is why it has to be eaten within two hours, but now that there is a cafe, it has become a lot easier to enjoy.

Strawberry parfait

There are three kinds of parfait, and I picked the strawberry. It comes with a little Dojima Roll on the side, which somehow made me feel like I got a real bargain. As you can see, there is a whole blend of ingredients in there, and every single one of them was delicious. Inside the whipped cream there are crunchy chocolate flakes too, which went really well with the strawberry ice cream. I would say this is just about the number one parfait I have had in Korea. If they keep it up like this, it should easily become a landmark of Garosu-gil.

It has been a while since I had a parfait this good, and it really lifted my mood. Once the service settles down and the weather gets warmer, I will have to come back again.
