The town on the North Shore is so tiny that there was not much to see, so I walked over toward Haleiwa Beach Park.

I had vaguely heard there were lots of surfers, but there were not that many, just a few here and there. Maybe there are more on weekends.

I keep wondering what it would have been like with a bit better weather.

Haleiwa Beach Park

It is nice and quiet compared to Waikiki, but I think you need to come out planning to spend a whole day relaxing on the beach.

Crystal-clear water

I had heard that sea turtles show up around here, but I did not see any that day. I had already seen one during the dolphin watching anyway, so it did not really matter.

In the guidebooks it looked like there was plenty to do, but when I actually got there it was a pretty deserted place. Maybe it is just that I did not know it well, or maybe it was the season or the day of the week, but it does not seem like somewhere worth going out of your way for.
