There is a small French place in my neighborhood that kept catching my eye every time I walked past. It looked like the food would be good, but I had no idea what kind of place it was, so I kept hesitating. Then one day I had a reason to eat out, so I went in. The atmosphere was calmer and nicer than I expected, but the chef was serving all four tables by himself. Hmm.. well.. It is a popular place in the area, but because of that the food came out very slowly.

Otoshi (amuse-bouche)

Potato on top of a slice of baguette, and it tastes better than you would expect.

Vegetable terrine

A dish where you can really taste the freshness of the seasonal vegetables.

Vegetable salad, half portion

Ordering a half portion gets you this much. Not very French, but it tastes fine.

Pumpkin soup

There is no way pumpkin soup could taste bad

Potato soup

The pumpkin one was a bit better, but this one was good too.

Napolitan

This one was a bit ordinary, though if there is a problem, it is that I ordered Napolitan at a French restaurant. Maybe because it is a neighborhood place, they have a lot of fun items on the menu.

Mixed grill

Everything on the grill was delicious. Overall the cooking is at a high level and the atmosphere is nice too. The prices were reasonable enough as well. The only problem, again, is the slow service. I thought it might be good to drop by when it is quiet.. but it is always a gamble. A really tricky place.
