Qu’il fait bon’s cakes are expensive, but they are so good that I buy them regularly. This time, instead of taking some home, I went to the cafe in the shop itself and ate there.
Peach juice
Hmm.. pricey, but more ordinary than I expected
Coffee
Not bad, it seems.
Grapefruit tart
The tangy fruit and the cream go together beautifully. A very Qu’il fait bon kind of menu item.
White strawberry tart
They had a tart made with white strawberries, which are only available in early summer, so I ordered it. It was around 1,500 yen a slice. The description said it tastes like first love, but what you get is a very ordinary strawberry flavour, not even sweet. Brand strawberries like Amaou are far tastier, and I see no reason to pay double just because the colour is white. Well, it was a good experience anyway, and maybe this is what first love tastes like.
For the record, the strawberries are white inside too.
It is certainly curious. Even with this colour, it definitely tastes like strawberry.
Tropical tart
This one I shot on the next visit. A tart topped with tropical fruit, and oddly it had no sourness at all. Really delicious
Peach tart
They seem to use the best peaches money can buy. It is funny how it tastes better as a tart than just eating the peach on its own.
This is the seasonal tart I bought for a birthday.
A fruit tart really is awkward to split between two people. Then again, one whole slice each is a bit much.. the only way is to take turns giving up the tasty fruit to each other.
Nectarine tart
By August the peach season was already over. So I brought home this nectarine tart instead; it was good, but not quite peach level. Something to look forward to next year.
Qu’il fait bon almost never disappoints, it is that reliable a place. These days I seem to drop by about once every month or two. Go too often and you get tired of it. I am looking forward to this autumn, when all the good fruit comes pouring in.
