Kappabashi, famous for Niimi, is a sacred place for those who know it and a place whose very existence is unknown to those who do not. It is a shopping street specialising in tableware and kitchen equipment not far from Asakusa, and just as most restaurants in Tokyo source their ingredients from Tsukiji, they buy their tableware and cooking tools in Kappabashi. Quite a few people from Korea who are into tableware and cooking end up spending a whole day in Kappabashi too. Maybe it is because Asakusa is so close, but there are not that many famous places to eat around Kappabashi. This Kappabashi Coffee, though, seems to be one of the better known ones.

The entrance

Modern atmosphere, spacious inside, and plenty of people coming through. It is not really a place for a meal, but they do have meal menus, and they are strong on desserts and tea.

This is the house specialty, and it is so refreshing that it is perfect for summer.

Sandwich

I ordered this as my meal and it was decent enough. They also have a few curries and donburi, so it is a good place for a light meal. The sushi place Yoroha (468) is nearby too, so after getting your errands done in Kappabashi you could easily make a course of it. Though I am not sure people who come to Kappabashi have time for a proper meal, since most of them are too busy looking at tableware.
