I wanted a quick lunch in Shinjuku, so I went to a place called Ban Thai. It has been in business in Kabukicho for a long time, and while the prices are a little steep, it is a popular spot. The restaurant is huge and generally noisy, so it looks like a good place for a casual meal even with people you do not know that well.

I think these were close to a thousand yen. The taste was decent.
Beef noodle soup
I ordered this because I needed a hangover cure, and it was clean and sweetish. Not very spicy for Thai food. I guess that is why it is popular in Kabukicho.
Stir-fried shrimp with cashew nuts
This was also made decently with good ingredients. Considering the price this level is only to be expected, but there cannot be that many restaurants in the middle of Kabukicho that guarantee a reliable meal, so I can see why it is popular. True to Kabukicho, there were quite a few hosts and hostesses around too..

A store has opened right in front of Shinjuku Station. It is a huge boom.
