There are not many soba shops in Tokyo that open on Mondays. A friend was visiting from Korea and we thought about having soba; these days Azumabashi Yabu Soba would be my top recommendation, but where we ended up was Sarashina Horii in Azabu-Juban.
Dashimaki
A rolled omelette that goes nicely with a drink.
Sarashina soba
The white soba. Clean and refined, and you can see why it has stayed popular for so long.
Kuruma ebi tempura
It is pretty big ^_^ So the price is a bit steep, but every now and then you need to treat yourself to a monster like this.
Thick noodles
I tried the thick noodles, and they have a rustic taste that is the complete opposite of the sarashina.
Kamo nanban soba
A safe, classic style. There are plenty of places with more personality, but few that are this consistent.
