While wandering the streets of Asakusa I stumbled on a shop specialising in daigaku imo. Daigaku imo is candied sweet potato, what we call goguma mattang in Korea.
It looks roughly like this.
It has that specialist-shop feel.
Inside it feels like a little factory.
The craftsman’s way of handling the sweet potatoes was clearly no ordinary skill.
I bought the plain daigaku imo.
It seems to be a popular place. Everything was selling out as soon as it was made.

Freshly made candied sweet potato can hardly taste bad. Asakusa has such a deep history that it seems to be full of interesting places. I should explore it bit by bit every weekend.
