I had plans in Garosu-gil, and while searching for a restaurant worth going to, a place called August 19 seemed to be getting popular lately, so I went to check it out. It is located behind Forever 21. Look for the peach drawing on the sign and you will find it easily. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor, spacious and with a very casual vibe. It was lunchtime when I went, but there were hardly any people and the place was practically empty. I guess word has not really gotten out yet, or it was just a quiet day.
Focaccia
Slightly salty and tasty. It seems restaurant bread has been getting uniformly better these days.
Ricotta cheese salad
I have been craving cheese lately, so I ordered this. It tastes good and is not expensive, but the portion was enormous.
Basil pesto pasta
I ordered it because green pasta looked intriguing, and it tastes far better than it looks.
Roasted pork belly with pickled apple
This dish also came in a huge portion. If you are a light eater, two people could share one. The pork belly was cooked perfectly, and it goes well with the sweet pickled apple served as a garnish. I did not try any other dishes, but it seems like you could order pretty much anything here and it would be good.
Estrella Damm draft beer
Served in a pretty glass. Daytime drinking made it taste even better.
With good food, good prices and a decent location, I expect this place will get popular before long. If there is one problem with it, it would be that the portions are too big. I used to be simply happy when lots of delicious food came out, but these days it is a bit of a struggle. I guess I need to move my body more, if only to keep eating good food.
