After coming down from Mt. Takao, I went straight into a soba shop near the trailhead. There is not much to eat up on the mountain, and the best option around seemed to be a soba place called Takahashiya.
Tea
Maybe because the peak hour had passed it was not packed, but there were still plenty of people.
The plaque reading Takahashiya
An old-fashioned building.
Hiyashi tororo soba
Tororo (grated yam) is said to be the specialty of Mt. Takao, so I had to try it. The soba was a bit soggy, as if it had been boiled in advance, but the tororo was really fresh and delicious. Turns out the tororo I had eaten until now was not the real thing..
Kamo negi seiro soba
Soba with a broth made from duck. Not top-tier level, but reasonably tasty.
Sobayu
To finish, I poured in the sobayu and drank the soba tea. A weekend of both exercise and good eating, which felt oddly satisfying.
