I searched online for gomtang places in Yeoksam-dong and found that, besides the Hannam-dong Naju Gomtang I went to last time, there is another famous one called Woojungjib. Woojungjib is actually the older of the two. Since I am on a gomtang kick anyway, I paid that place a visit as well.
Suyuk (boiled beef)
The sesame seeds were a bit over the top, but the suyuk itself was tasty. At 20,000 won a plate, though, it did feel a little pricey.
Gomtang
It is similar to Hannam-dong Naju Gomtang and yet different. The broth is better here, but in both quantity and quality the meat at Hannam-dong Naju Gomtang seems to have the edge. Well, either way, each has its own character. Like Hannam-dong Naju Gomtang, this place sells not just gomtang but meat too, and in a way it felt like the meat was the main event. Even if it started out as a gomtang shop, it must have shifted that way to suit the character of Yeoksam-dong. Anyway, I had a fine bowl of delicious gomtang, but somehow I keep feeling like I ought to make a trip to Naju itself. I should pick a day and set off on a countryside tour of gomtang and sundae.
