I met a friend in Myeongdong, had a light meal at Kaehwa, and then headed over to Payard. Unless you are in Hongdae, Garosu-gil or Apgujeong, there are not many neighborhoods with a decent number of dessert cafes within reach. The luxurious atmosphere was much the same as on my last visit.

It was just okay.
Apple tart
I enjoyed this one back in the day, but this time it was just so-so.. Maybe it is because I have been eating so many desserts lately.
Banana tart
It is not that it tastes bad, it just has no particular character. A macaron got caught in the frame beside it, and the macarons were pretty good for the price. The cakes do seem to have slipped a little compared to before, though I cannot tell whether that is just my impression or whether the patissier has changed.
Water glass
Well, cake aside, there are not many places where you can enjoy a quiet after-meal chat like this, so it is handy to keep in mind whenever you need to meet someone in Myeongdong.
Cafe latte
The atmosphere and the design are both fine. Very much a department-store cafe.
