A friend called an impromptu meetup, so I headed out to Sadang. We went to a place called Yeongilman — apparently it is a famous spot in Sadang?
Makhoe
The most famous thing on this place’s menu is makhoe, roughly chopped raw fish. There is a generous amount of it, and mixed with gochujang it makes an excellent side for drinks. The fish being fresh helps, but honestly it is just plain delicious. This rough-and-ready way of eating must be the Korean style.
Gwamegi
They said gwamegi, half-dried saury, is in season right now, so I ordered some, and it was dried just right. Very satisfying, as always.
Mulhoe
It still felt like something was missing, so I ordered mulhoe, the second most famous thing on the menu, and this one is coolly delicious too. Add rice and it turns straight into mulhoe bap. They close at 10, so we ate quickly and left. It is a good place for simple dishes and a light drink, so if I ever have business around Sadang I would happily stop by.
