Levain used to be famous, but these days there are so many good bakeries that it honestly isn’t a place you need to go out of your way for. I really should be visiting Le Petit Mec, the hottest bakery of the moment, but I picked this place anyway because a friend recommended it.
Levain
It’s in Yoyogi-Hachiman, not all that far from Shinjuku. Distance-wise it isn’t far, but it’s tucked away in a back corner, so it was a bit tricky to find.
The breads
It’s high-quality bread fermented with natural yeast, but these days there are plenty of places this good wherever you go (you can get pretty tasty bread in Korea too), so there was really no need to make a special trip. That said, this place is very famous for the scones it sells on weekends, so next time, if I have time on a weekend, I’ll give them a try.
The Hilton hotel with a view of Mt. Fuji
After the rain passes, there are times when you can see Mt. Fuji from Tokyo. I rested for a while at the hotel where my friend was staying. On a short trip where I ran around so much, a break like this is really precious.
