A month later I found myself heading back to Tokyo. Somehow this trip ended up going through Narita for the first time in years, and it was such a hassle. The price difference turned out to be tiny anyway, so I should have just flown into Haneda. Anyway, by the time I got from the airport into the city at Ueno I was hungry and worn out. UA’s in-flight meal was really skimpy, too, so I went straight to Brasserie L’ecrin Café inside Ueno Station.

Chicken liver mousse
This is a killer dish to go with drinks. I was planning to have a proper meal soon, so I kept the start light. I liked it so much that I’d love to make it at home someday. But where would I even get fresh chicken livers…
Quiche
Quiche is French home cooking, something that looks a bit like a pie. I think I heard there’s a specialist shop somewhere in Korea too… Anyway, it may be a café, but since L’ecrin is originally a high-end French restaurant in Ginza, even the simple dishes were all tasty. A perfect starter for a trip to Japan.
