I visited my friend who lives in Shirokane again. We see each other often, so I already know this neighborhood pretty well. From what I hear it’s a bit of a tough place to live, but well.. that kind of thing is relative, I suppose.
For various reasons we decided to go to a small place nearby that my friend goes to often. Prices were just ordinary? Or maybe a bit expensive? It’s not some amazing restaurant, so I’ll skip the details.

Urizuke (pickled melon)
Uri means oriental melon, but in Japan there are many kinds of uri besides the oriental melon we usually think of, and they eat them pickled like this. It tastes kind of like cucumber?
Rice cake
Rice cake grilled with cheese on top. Not particularly tasty…

A hamburg steak that’s like a gyoza
If they dropped the drink and lowered the price a bit more it might compete as a lunch, but with the prices and vibe of this neighborhood I think that’d be tough. If they sold this menu at this price in any other area, they’d probably have gone under right away..

This didn’t use any special ingredients either, so it wasn’t especially tasty.

This one was so-so too.. better than the earlier dishes, though..
Armani chocolates
I opened them to share with my friends. The thing in front is the keepsake from the last time I opened one. I’d hung it on my bag, but it disappeared..
Dragées
Exactly the kind of flavor I love, but maybe because they’re so sweet, I get tired of them if I eat a lot.. The satisfaction seems highest up to about two or three.

We stopped by the lounge of my friend’s apartment building. The view is always great.
