This time it’s a tour around the city.

They said it’s gold leaf, and it’s seriously flashy. The vibe is sort of “we have so much money we don’t know what to do with it.”

Apparently it commemorates the war of independence, but I don’t really know the details. It was hot, and honestly I couldn’t have cared less.

It was so hot that all I could think about was going to a beach.

I should have come at night, but I dropped by during the day. Not much to see..

Maybe because it’s an Islamic country that bans alcohol and pork and makes women cover up, the whole city has a somehow subdued feel. A trip with no breathing room is exhausting. From now on I’d rather avoid this kind of trip if I can.
