The theme of this trip to Korea was actually duck… no, not really. It was around Lunar New Year, so there weren’t many places open to go with friends, and this is where we ended up by default. From what I heard, Sinto Ori and Sintobului Ori are different places, but I honestly don’t know which one is the original. We just went to the one near my home.
A cast-iron pot lid
It’s used as the grill plate. We ordered the course for 3-4 people at around 50,000 won, and it turned out to be a bit too much for the three of us. On top of that, three different rice/noodle dishes came out -_- we were like, what is this..
Duck roast
The tastiest cut comes out first. Duck has to be cooked through before you eat it, so it took quite a while before we got our first bite. It would have been better if they’d brought out the barbecue that came next first.
Basic side dishes
This much is fine.
Gejang
It’s not a gejang specialist, so the crab wasn’t packed with meat. If you’re wondering why a duck place serves gejang.. the point isn’t really to eat the crab, it’s to dip the duck meat in the seasoning.
Cook it well
Waiting for it to cook was a bit of a struggle. The taste was not bad, I guess? But as you know, eating this stuff won’t boost your stamina or make you healthier like the ads claim. Better not to expect too much.
Barbecue
If only it had come out earlier.. It’s a notch below the barbecue I had near Gwacheon a while back. Can’t be helped since it’s a chain, I suppose.
Jumulleok
Duck meat in a seasoned marinade. The taste was just so-so..
Soup
This soup was nicely simmered and pretty good. I’m a soup person anyway.
Naengmyeon
Naengmyeon at a duck place? -_- It was just ordinary.
Rice porridge
The porridge was okay, but.. I couldn’t figure out the concept of serving naengmyeon and porridge at the same time.. Well.. I’m sure some people are happy to get one more dish.
Patbingsu
I liked that they include dessert even with a cheap course. It seems like a decent place for a casual family meal out.
