Bongpiyang by Gangnam Station

I was wondering what to eat around Gangnam Station and ended up at Bongpiyang, part of the Byeokje Galbi group. But once inside I found that, contrary to what I expected, they don’t do pork galbi at lunch. So there’s no real difference from Byeokje Galbi. I know that neighborhood is on the pricey side, but dropping the cheap menu item like that, what a move..

Rice porridge

bongpian

The starter. Taste was so-so.. and served cold, as befits a lunch menu..

In goes the fire.

bongpian

They use the real stuff for this, at least..

Side dishes

bongpian

Well, so-so..

Side dishes

bongpian

They get the basics right.

Marinated galbi

bongpian

Galbi at lunchtime, sigh. Way too fancy. But I couldn’t very well order bulgogi instead, so I just ate it.

Grilled nicely

bongpian

and happily munched down.

Pyeongyang naengmyeon, 100% buckwheat

bongpian

It falls short of the main branch, but this one is decent enough too. Then again, right now is just before the new buckwheat comes in, when the aroma and quality are at their worst, so considering that I can’t call it bad.

Sujeonggwa (cinnamon punch)

bongpian

I don’t even remember whether I drank this..
