The garden at the back of Huis Ten Bosch
There were so many couples walking hand in hand through the flower fields. Damn..
Flower beds
Lots of kids too. If it weren’t for the discount ticket after 5 p.m., I might have wondered why on earth I’d come into a place like this.
The church in the middle
It got cut off, sadly
The canals are lovely too.
After wandering around for about an hour, I felt like I’d seen about half of it.
Apple-filled baumkuchen I found while wandering around
They say it’s a Huis Ten Bosch exclusive. Pricey, but delicious, so I bought one to take home as a gift. As of writing this post, I’ve already eaten the whole thing..
A look inside
Crisp, refreshing apple simmered down in lemon and honey is one of my favorite desserts. It’s shown up on this blog more than a few times..
The harbor
All the boats were moored, and the shops near the harbor had already closed.
This one’s a sailing ship
Probably inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean..
A fishing boat, or maybe a sightseeing cruiser..
Though just looking at it, I can’t really tell what it’s for..
The garden of the Doll Mansion
It suddenly started raining at this point, so I couldn’t take proper photos.
This is the Doll Mansion
I didn’t go inside. They might have asked me to pay.. -_-;;
The flower beds of the Doll House
After going round nothing but Japanese gardens, a European-style garden feels fresh. Harry Potter might be hiding somewhere..
Holiday cottages inside Huis Ten Bosch
Was it called the “Forest Cottages”..? They’re cottages for family tourists. Somehow they looked expensive.. Kids would love them, though.
The flower beds are nicely laid out too..
The flower beds from another side
A clock tower or a church, not sure which..
I took this on the way back, stopped by the gift shop one last time, and then set off for Nagasaki. Huis Ten Bosch turned out to be a surprisingly nice place. I went back and forth over buying a tie printed with an Escher print and ended up not buying it, but next time I go I’ll get one. Of course, the chance of me visiting this place alone again is, to be perfectly honest, zero..
