I got my hands on a few decent bottles of wine and was looking for a place to drink them with a friend, so I headed to a restaurant next to Seocho Church in Seocho-dong. I don’t really know my way around this neighborhood, so I got a bit lost.
I picked this restaurant for its free corkage rather than the food, so I didn’t expect much, but the food turned out perfectly decent. The Pizza & Wine near Gangnam Station I went to before served up TGI-style food, and this was nowhere near that bad, is what I mean.. The interior is calm and the staff were friendly, so if it were near my place I’d want to come here often..
The first wine we opened was Jordan.
Well.. American wines aren’t that popular in Korea, but this is one of the famous premium ones.. It was a bit of a shame, since you could feel its aging potential, but I got it so cheap that I just drank it without a second thought. I still have one more bottle at home, and that one I’m going to cellar for a while before drinking.
Pizza
I think it was a Margherita.. It’s not exactly cheap, but I was surprised by how big it was. As you can see the toppings are a bit sparse, so it isn’t mind-blowing, but it’s good for filling up.. Not bad with wine either.

So we ate until we were pleasantly full. The Jordan was really good.. I loved it. Well, it’s a pricey wine, so I guess that’s only to be expected..
Sauternes ’03, Rieussec
You have to finish with a lovely dessert wine, right? It’s still young, but even so the sweetness is elegant. It would have been even better if I’d drunk it in about ten years.. But I don’t get that many chances to drink wine with friends, so I guess it couldn’t be helped.. Wine keeps piling up at home, which is becoming a real problem. I’ll have to meet up with friends more often and get them to help me drink it.
