A Roundup of Recent Lunch Photos

I’m on a diet these days. -_- I was already showing signs of a bit of a belly, but the aftermath of not being able to control what I ate during the brutal Mt. Fuji climbing schedule hit hard. As part of it, I’m not eating anything but water after 6 p.m. Losing one of the day’s pleasures is really painful, but there’s nothing for it. If I just avoided overeating at meals I wouldn’t need such an extreme diet, but that’s easier said than done. Anyway, I can eat as much as I like at lunch (though I have to exercise afterwards), so I’ll take comfort in that.
I had plans to meet someone in Shinjuku, so I went back to Cressonnière. It didn’t move me as much as before.
Potato soup

Not as good as the pumpkin soup.
Trout dish

No complaints on either quantity or quality. Still, if it felt like something was a bit missing, it’s probably because I’d just been to Mitachi Triangle.
We held a home party in the lounge of the apartment building where a friend lives. It’s a gathering where everyone makes a dish they’re confident in and we all share. Everyone’s a seriously good cook, so I took care of the wine and dessert.
This person is hard at work making fresh pasta.

Apparently they learned how to make pasta in southern Italy. They put a lot of effort in, but today it didn’t quite work out. I picked it up by watching over their shoulder, so I should try making it myself when I have time.
The spread

You can see the bottle of Fritz Haag 2005 Riesling I brought. Price aside, it was the most wonderful wine I’d had recently, so I brought it along. That day too, the people who know a bit about wine ^_^ praised it as delicious. Thanks~
The finished pasta

It looks appetizing, but… hmm…
Wakaba-chan, the daughter of the house

Aww, what a cutie. I play with her every time I visit. So why does she still avoid me… sniff…
Ingredients for temaki sushi

These are the fillings for sushi you roll up and eat like gimbap. Easy to prepare and tasty too.
The dessert I brought. I cut it up so everyone could share.

This is cake from a place in Roppongi called Le Chocolat de H. It’s a chocolate specialist, but its cakes are pretty impressive too, because its pâtissier runs a famous cake shop called Mont St. Clair in Jiyugaoka. The chocolate cake was very rich and got compliments, but since I don’t find chocolate all that delicious, I couldn’t really judge how good it was. Probably top-tier. I’d originally meant to buy cake at Toshi Yoroizuka, but apparently Toshi Yoroizuka doesn’t do takeout on Tuesdays. -_-; There’s a Korean saying for times like this… the day you go is always market day…
Tart and cream puff

Well… they’re a bit pricey, but they’re just as delicious. I’m satisfied. Next time I’ll have to taste some of the other, fancier items.
I heard an interesting rumor about Toshi Yoroizuka. Something about the pâtissier being famous for marrying a celebrity… I hear the shop is moving soon, so next time I have reason to go to Roppongi I’ll find out what’s happening.
Work has been busy lately and I haven’t been feeling great, so I haven’t really been getting out to good restaurants. I’d like to update regularly, but it isn’t going the way I want. It’s also true that I neglected food spots while focusing on travel. Once I’ve fully recovered from the trip hangover, I’d like to get back into full swing. Until then, please bear with me even if posts are few and far between…
P.S. Oh… it turns out I’ve actually seen Naomi Kawashima, who’s engaged to the pâtissier Yoroizuka, in person. A while back, while I was eating dessert at the counter, the famous celebrity chatting away with the chef next to me was Naomi -_- Aha… so that’s who it was… How funny is that.
