Tamaru is a ramen shop you won’t find in any guidebook. A local recommended it to me, so I went to check it out.
The front
It’s small. It turned out to be right across from Zuyurumen Ikeda.
The 750-yen wonton ramen.
It’s an old-school style, the kind of flavor middle-aged guys would love ^_^ It comes loaded with cabbage and chashu, and the broth is clean and refreshing. The wontons themselves, though, didn’t really taste like much. I kind of wish I’d just ordered the regular ramen for 650 yen.
The noodles
Nice noodles. It’s not easy to get a bowl of ramen this generous at this price in the middle of Tokyo. In that sense, you could call it a great shop. That said, this old-guy style of flavor is a matter of taste, so I can’t quite go as far as telling you that you have to go.
