Incheon is my home turf, but honestly there aren’t many places here you could call great restaurants. I met up with my high school friends for the first time in a while, and while we were trying to figure out where to go and what to do, someone said there was a good barbecue place in Songdo, so we went.
Nobody told me what kind of barbecue place it was, but when we got there it turned out to be Daedo Sikdang, the famous one from Wangsimni. Daedo Sikdang is a pretty proven name, so I was relieved. I think from now on, whenever I need to eat in Incheon, I won’t have to agonize over where to go.
The entrance
Looks like business is booming. The parking lot was packed with cars too.
The cast-iron pan
Classic Daedo Sikdang style.
Pajeori (scallion salad)
Not bad.
The basic spread
This place is famous for keeping its side dishes simple. Well, personally I actually prefer it this way..
Three servings of sirloin to start with.
Sirloin is the only thing on the menu, so there’s no need to agonize over what to order. It’s 22,000 won, which feels just a tiny bit pricey, but once you taste it you’ll never feel the money was wasted.
A close-up.
Great marbling. The second round of meat we ordered wasn’t quite this good, though. Seems you don’t always get the good stuff.
This is how you grill it.
Nicely cooked
If you only eat meat, the lack of fiber upsets your stomach, so I always make sure to eat my vegetables too.
There’s only one kind of meat, but two kinds of rice dishes: kkakdugi fried rice and doenjang rice.
The fried rice is the famous one, so we ordered three servings of it.
All done.
To my taste it was just average. Probably because I’m not a big fan of the wetter style.
My friend picked up the bill as thanks for the list of restaurants I’d put together for their Tokyo trip. So that made it four days in a row of being treated to a meal. ^_^ If only every day of the year could be like Chuseok~
