Apparently the latest trend in Japanese ramen is collaboration. Two famous ramen shops, Kukai and Kamado, have teamed up and opened a ramen shop in Shibuya.
Funnily enough, this one shop sells the menus of both famous shops.
On top of that, there’s an original menu too. That day I tried something from the original menu.
Tonkotsu ramen with a rich broth
The noodles are thick for tonkotsu. The broth is your typical clean-tasting tonkotsu, with black sesame and garlic added to give it both a mellow and a punchy edge. It was tasty, but neither the noodles nor the broth were at their best.
The tsukemen my companion ordered.
You dip the noodles in this broth.
It’s miso-based, and this one was a bit tastier.
A shop with a fun concept. I can’t say the ramen is served at its absolute best, but it’s a decent place to duck into when you’re walking around Shibuya and get hungry. After all, there aren’t many good places to eat in that area..
