What fri13th Has Been Up To

This post was written in 2005. Some information may be out of date.

Here’s a round-up of photos I’ve been taking lately.

Street jazz at Tsudanuma Station. They seemed like a pretty skilled band, but apparently they’re amateurs.
They don’t play clubs or anything; they only come out and perform when there’s some kind of event.
The drummer is the leader, I’m told. And the bassist was quite a looker. ^_^

Funabashi Port. Off to the side you can see a sign saying no entry for unauthorized persons. It didn’t come out well in the photo, but
the moon was really beautiful that day.

The giant LaLaport shopping mall seen from the Funabashi pier. The building on the left is a hotel.

Traditional chuka soba from a ramen shop near my place. Chuka soba is pretty much the origin of Japanese ramen. They advertised that
they keep the taste exactly as it was 50 years ago, so I tried it out of curiosity. It wasn’t bad, but it’s really different from
what’s popular these days. Kind of bland, I’d say. Shoyu or miso is a lot easier to enjoy. No idea how the latest chuka soba
has changed, though.

My one and only luxury these days: milk at 300 yen for 500 ml!! Apparently it comes from the Jersey, a dairy breed
once raised by the British royal family. The taste? Well… let’s say it denied the very reason for existence of every milk
I’ve ever drunk and confirmed that this alone is true milk. Or that it came close to the ideal milk I’d always imagined.
If I had to score it, I’d give it about 98 points. Milk straight from the cow at the farm
would taste even better, so I knocked off 2 points ^^;
Besides that, I also had an Italian course dinner for 3,000 yen that left me stuffed… sadly I didn’t have
my camera that day, so no photos. It was about 3.5 times more satisfying than Gran Gusto. ^_^;
