This is the University of Tokyo, which I wandered into after getting lost on my way from Kanda to Ueno Park. I usually don’t
rely on maps and just find my way by feel, but when it’s cloudy or dark my sense of direction doesn’t really kick in. -_-;;
The University of Tokyo’s wall. I didn’t take pictures of the tourist spots like the Akamon (Red Gate). The campus is… hmm… maybe about the size of Yonsei University?
Yasuda Auditorium, seen from the main gate. It was the center of the Zenkyoto student movement in the ’60s. When you watch footage from those days…
all you can say is “wow.” (Recommended viewing: Nagisa Oshima’s Night and Fog in Japan)
Great-looking building. The one in front of the main gate is the Faculty of Law building. Apart from law and medicine, the University of Tokyo’s facilities
aren’t much to write home about. (I think the agriculture faculty was pretty decent, though.)
Looks like it’s still winter. The freshmen have already arrived, but the trees are still bare…

The medical school building. Go out the back from here and you’re right in Ueno Park.
Cherry blossoms in Ueno Park, photo 1. I wanted to shoot the cherry blossoms in Ueno Park… but sadly,
they weren’t in full bloom yet. The few early bloomers were surrounded by crowds of people trying to take pictures,
and most people were busy drinking and partying whether the blossoms were out or not. It felt just like
Gwanaksan on a weekend.
