Don Quijote is a big discount store — the Korean equivalent would be Homeplus or E-Mart.
I heard the owner is Korean.. maybe that’s why the store’s jingle has some Korean
in it too. It’s close to where I live now, so I shop there every day (-_-).
Don Quijote’s big selling point is rock-bottom prices. It’s really cheap. My cost of living right now is about
the same as when I was in Korea.. not sure if that gives you a sense of just how cheap it is..
On top of that, unlike other Japanese stores, they put up huge signs for the sale items, so someone like me who
has no clue about going prices can just grab those and still come away happy with the shopping.
Yesterday I spent a nice evening with a 100-yen bottle of 100% orange juice, plus roasted chestnuts and prunes,
also 100 yen each. Every time I go to Don Quijote, it makes me expect something.
