On day two in Ueno, shop after shop let me down. Maybe they were all on holiday…
A whole bunch of Ueno’s famous places were closed at the same time. Futaba, Horaiya, Ueno Yabu Soba,
Rengyokuan and so on… After wandering around for a while, worn out, I ended up at an anmitsu
place called Mihashi.
The photo came out a bit shabby, but it’s seriously delicious. It was a notch above the patbingsu at
Mealtop in the Hyundai Department Store in Apgujeong. How can they make it this smooth with nothing but red beans…
I was so moved by the anmitsu here that I later tried other anmitsu places, but none of them
could match this one… Famous shops really are different somehow.
