Leepicheep is a wonderful dessert shop. That day they posted on Instagram that they would be selling butter tteok, so I headed straight over.

Shops selling dango seem to be popping up everywhere.. is it really that good.. In Japan they sell it just about anywhere, so.. why go out of your way, really..

It is a Blue Ribbon winner, no less. They had posted on Instagram that they were opening late, though, and I missed it, so I wandered around elsewhere for a while before coming.

Butter tteok is like a financier with a crispier outside and a chewy, rice-cake-like inside.. and I think that chewy texture is exactly the ultimate taste Koreans are after.. (we all love something with a bit of bite..) I have never had butter tteok anywhere else, but I am confident there are not many places that do it as well as here.. that is how much I trust Leepicheep.. That said, I went right at opening time and there was not much available to buy, and it sold out in no time, so it is very hard to get hold of unless you reserve before you go.. Which means only the chosen few get to taste it..
