Donggang Naruteo in Euljiro

I went to Donggang Naruteo in Euljiro. This one turned out to be another Sung Si-kyung restaurant pick.

The place

The place

It’s on the second floor. The dining room is pretty spacious. Business must be good.

The menu

The menu

There’s a lunch portion for one at 15,000 won.

Mitten crab and catfish maeuntang

Mitten crab and catfish maeuntang

I ordered a single portion and was surprised when they hauled out this big cauldron, and with one whole large catfish in there, it was honestly enough for three people if they’re light eaters.. (I had a bit of a struggle finishing it, so next time I should probably just get it to go..)

Kimchi

Kimchi

It was tasty

Rice

Healthy multigrain rice

Scooping up the broth..

Scooping up the broth..

The photo doesn’t really show it, but the broth has a huge amount of freshwater shrimp in it, and that clean, refreshing depth was superb.. If you like shrimp broth, I’d really recommend stopping by at least once.. There’s hardly any fishy taste, and it’s packed with ingredients.. (picking the meat off is a bit of a hassle, though..) At this level, it’s a place where you can enjoy proper freshwater maeuntang..

They were small, so they were a bit awkward to eat, but these were good too.

Gwamegi

Gwamegi

It’s the kind of spot where a few of you could get together for drinks, too.

The dining room

The dining room

Really was spacious..

Self-serve kimchi

Self-serve kimchi

But I was too busy with the maeuntang to find time for the self-serve kimchi..

The entrance

The entrance

Sung Si-kyung’s up there too.. Anyway, the value is just too good.. Honestly, at 15,000 won that much would be plenty even for three. I never imagined it would be like this.. The freshwater shrimp in the broth is especially killer..
