Norang Bagaji, a Korean pub near Hapjeong Station

I heard a decent Korean-style pub had just opened near Hapjeong Station, so I went to check it out.

The place

The place

I have no idea why it is called Norang Bagaji, though..

The cherry blossom street

A spring post that I am only getting around to putting up now..

The menu

The menu

More ordinary than I expected..

The complimentary side dishes

The complimentary side dishes

They seem to be there as a palate cleanser..

The assorted platter

The assorted platter

Scallops, boiled pork, tofu and kimchi, apparently. It looks like the signature dish, but then again maybe not that signature? Each item is fine on its own, but eating them together did not create any synergy. The scallops were fresh, though, and I liked those.

Saemom bitturi whelk & spicy jjolmyeon salad

Saemom bitturi whelk & spicy jjolmyeon salad

I could not find whelk with somyeon noodles on the menu, so I ordered the closest thing to it. But I do think whelk with somyeon would have been better.. The jjolmyeon is too assertive, so it feels like a stretch..

Maybe it is because the dishes I ordered were on the plain side, and I suspect I would have been happier if I had picked something that made more of the ingredients, but since this was the second stop of the night I was going for something simple, and nothing really stood out. Next time I should try coming here as the first stop..
