Sigol Sundae in Shingil

I heard there’s a decent sundae-guk (blood sausage soup) place in Shingil, so I decided to check it out.

Found this King Kong Mart on the way

Sigol sundae.

This is what it looks like. Seems like there are a few of these around.

Inside

Honestly, I feel like there’s barely any difference between this and actually going to China. Everything you’d find in a Chinese supermarket is here. Chinese marts and restaurants are popping up all over Seoul; I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not.

Sigol Sundae

Sigol sundae.

The neighborhood seems to be becoming quite “Chinese,” but a traditional Korean sundae shop is still holding its own.

The tables

Sigol sundae.

Very simple. I think the best part about this place is the welcoming atmosphere for solo diners.

The menu

Sigol sundae.

They have a sundae set meal.

Side dishes

Sigol sundae.

A pretty standard spread.

Sundae

They really know how to make it. It’s been a while since I’ve had such delicious blood sausage.

Sundae-guk

Sigol sundae.

It wasn’t too spicy and was very easy to eat.

The meats

Sigol sundae.

The portions were quite generous.

Street view

Sigol sundae.

After a good meal, I walked around the neighborhood and felt like the area is in the middle of some kind of transition.

The scenery

Sigol sundae.

This is the scenery from the winter of 2025; I wonder how it will change in the future.
