Saizeriya has always been a famous chain, well known for being really cheap. Still, I had never been, and going this time I realized the problem was with my own thinking.
Soup
Well, it’s perfectly edible.
Salad
Nothing spectacular, but the price is low.
Pasta
The number one reason I stopped going to Saizeriya is this pasta: the noodles aren’t al dente. Overcooked noodles, and the sauce is under-seasoned too. I have no idea what you’re supposed to enjoy about it. Even after all this time, my verdict hasn’t changed.
Escargot
But then, there’s escargot on the menu, and it’s cheap, comes straight out of the oven, and they use fresh olive oil too. The escargot itself isn’t high-end, but baked in the oven it tasted great.
Doria with a soft-boiled egg
This was perfectly edible as well.
Robot
A robot brings the food.
Dessert
Pudding and tiramisu, and both were delicious. Turns out Saizeriya, if you set aside the overly localized dishes like the pasta, is an incredible value. Now I get why it’s so popular.
