The Departure Hall at Shenzhen Airport 202508

The trip is over and it’s time to head back to Korea. In Shenzhen you can hail a taxi just about anywhere, so you just grab one and ride to the airport.

On the way

Shenzhen airport 202508.

Even on the way there were a ton of new apartment towers..

Inside the airport

Shenzhen airport 202508.

Not much different from when I arrived, though..

Inside the airport

Shenzhen airport 202508.

There’s a big restaurant floor on the second level.

The vibe

Shenzhen airport 202508.

Complete with kung fu..

Hainanese chicken rice

Shenzhen airport 202508.

Come to think of it, Hainan is nearby, so it’s no surprise there’s Hainanese chicken rice here.

Food court

Shenzhen airport 202508.

Bigger than I expected, with plenty of dishes worth eating. Coming early and having a bowl here before going through seems like a good plan.

Restaurant

Shenzhen airport 202508.

I think that’s a whale..

Shaanxi noodle shop

Shenzhen airport 202508.

Having biangbiang noodles here would have been a fine choice too..

Noodle shop

Shenzhen airport 202508.

First time seeing this one; there were all kinds of popular restaurants..

Xiaomi store

Shenzhen airport 202508.

That area over there is where the domestic flights board.. that side is spacious.. I went over to the international side, and there’s really nothing to see.

Inside

Shenzhen airport 202508.

Compared to outside, you really wonder why they’re selling this stuff.. tonkatsu, Thai noodles.. that kind of thing. Meanwhile outside there’s a noodle shop with 70 years of history.. Well, it’s the international terminal, so maybe it’s catering to international tastes..

Duty-free shop

Shenzhen airport 202508.

I looked to see if there was anything worth buying.. but it’s not that cheap..

Moutai

Shenzhen airport 202508.

Not something I’d buy, but it looked cool so I took a photo. There were more varieties than I expected.. (Korean duty-free is cheaper on price, though..)

BINGO’s NOODLE

Shenzhen airport 202508.

This is the noodle shop that was also in the food court, and it turns out they’ve opened a new one inside. I thought there’d be nowhere to eat at all, but here’s one.

There’s a place like this too..

Shenzhen airport 202508.

Though I hardly saw anyone there..

Famous Chinese teas

Shenzhen airport 202508.

I don’t know much about tea..

Snacks

Shenzhen airport 202508.

These seemed like good gift options.

They sell nuts too..

Shenzhen airport 202508.

Though I’m not sure it’s worth buying these to bring home..

Crystal Jade

Shenzhen airport 202508.

This is a decent place.. Looked like you could eat reasonably well for about 100 yuan.

The departure hall

Shenzhen airport 202508.

I walked all the way to the end and came back.

Menu

Shenzhen airport 202508.

Back to that shop from earlier..

Heritage-listed bean and meat noodles

Shenzhen airport 202508.

That seems to be the name.. It’s spicy, and works nicely as a mixed noodle dish. Not spectacularly delicious, but fine for a meal? About that level.. They had beef noodles too, but I’d eaten plenty of beef noodles before this, so I went with this one.

Brown sugar douhua

Shenzhen airport 202508.

It’s a pudding made from soy milk, and it’s sweet. I looked it up, and apparently in China it’s traditional to eat spicy noodles together with a sweet pudding that mellows out the heat.. Anyway, the quality was fine, and I got to enjoy Sichuan flavors, so it was a good last meal in Shenzhen. Next time I’d like to try some of the other dishes too..

Moutai

Shenzhen airport 202508.

There’s expensive Moutai too.. but they say even duty-free shops in China have fakes, so you have to be careful..

Whisky specialty shop

Shenzhen airport 202508.

Wow, they have places like this too.. I guess China is having a whisky boom as well..

Arriving at Incheon Airport..

Shenzhen airport 202508.

The arrivals duty-free shop has Dassai.. It seems the arrivals duty-free shops are gradually getting better products these days. (Though prices seem a bit higher than at departures duty-free..)
