Bap!, a Breakfast Specialist in Shenzhen

The restaurant called Bap! seems to specialise in breakfast. It looks like they stay open into the afternoon, but the menu itself is, shall we say, optimised for breakfast..

The place

It was packed.

The menu

A scene you often see in Daerim too. A fried dough stick and soy milk together for 5 yuan; at that price it’s cheaper to eat here than to bother making breakfast yourself.

Inside

They sell dumplings too.. and business was booming.. This isn’t a one-off shop either; it looked like a nationwide chain.

The set

The soy milk at Kungfu (真功夫) was tastier, with a cappuccino-like foam on top, but this one is perfectly decent too.

Fried dough stick

This fried bread is light and clean-tasting, so you never get tired of it. The soy milk was on the sweet side, which is exactly why the two balanced out. That said, the bread was so good that I once bought it for lunch as well, and at lunchtime it just didn’t taste the same.. Lesson learned: fried bread has to be eaten fresh..
