Piaf Bagel in Beomgye, Anyang

Beomgye in Anyang was somewhere I’d never been in my life, and while wandering around the neighbourhood I spotted a bagel shop that looked like it had something going for it, so I went in.

This place

It’s called Piaf Bagel. Famous shops have a certain feel about them, and I got that feeling the moment I saw it.

These bagels

There’s a really wide variety.

The fridge

Lots of kinds of cheese, too.

The bagel I bought that day was a walnut cranberry bagel. I didn’t have time to take a separate photo, but it was a really delicious bread.. I’ve always thought a bagel exists to make a hearty sandwich and isn’t a bread that’s delicious on its own.. so I’m not sure whether it’s right to call a bagel this fluffy, easy to eat, nutty and well-fermented a bagel.. but in a way, maybe this is what a K-bagel is.. as long as it tastes good, right.. If you live around here, there’s no need to go all the way to somewhere like London Bagel Museum; you can just come here..

What surprised me a bit, though, is that even a neighbourhood I’d never been to like Beomgye in Anyang has a delicious bagel shop. I guess we’ve really reached the level where you can find a good bakery in any neighbourhood you go to..
