Down in the basement of Bupyeong Station, between exits 6 and 7, there’s a place called Ekinomae Bakery. I first heard of them when they opened a counter in a department store, and it struck me that a shop named Ekinomae — “in front of the station” — really is right in front of the station. On top of that, I heard there was one in Bupyeong, so off I went.

It’s below exits 6 and 7. The map shows the location in the wrong spot.. going by the exit numbers is faster and more accurate.

And one more

Turns out they run two shops here. One is bakery only, the other has desserts and a cafe space. You can take bread you bought at the bakery and eat it in the cafe.

Katsu sando, tamago sando

Didn’t expect this kind of bread either.. they clearly know Japanese bread inside out.

The bread itself isn’t bad — tastes good, easy to eat — but I’m deep into rye bread these days, so I agonized quite a bit over what to get. In the end I bought a tamago sando to stand in for a meal. Anyway.. now that I know what they sell, next time I can walk in already knowing what I’m buying.
