Baguette Bakery in Hamamatsu

I had been to Baguette once before, but their baguettes were not really my kind of style. So I left it at that, but then I found out that plenty of people love this style, so I gave it another go.

The baguettes..

Baguette bakery.

This is the shop’s signature item. It looks like good value at a glance, but it is not the usual French-style baguette with a crust so crisp it feels like it might chip your teeth. Apparently this kind is delicious sliced and toasted, though.. The world is wide and baguettes are many, I suppose. It is not an authentic baguette, but this soft, fluffy style is tasty in its own way.

Bread

Baguette bakery.

It felt odd to come home with nothing but baguettes, so I picked up a few other things too. They seem to be good at this anpan-like style of bread.

Bread

Baguette bakery.

I think these were the walnut bread and the raisin bread, and both were pretty good. Still, for a baguette specialist I expected something like a campagne loaf, but they lean more towards Japanese-style breads than that, and the style is quite distinctive. It is an interesting place, but it is not easy to get to, so I think I will only drop by once in a while.

Croissant and quiche from Fukukawa, and more..

The cheese sauce is really good. The ham katsu was just okay.

Sausages

Baguette bakery.

I was recommended some sausages that go well with a drink, but in the end I could not finish them all. They do not keep for very long. Whenever I go somewhere far away I buy a big pile, because making the trip again is a hassle, and then it breaks my heart when I cannot eat it all. Next time I should shop a little more carefully.
