Baguettine, a Baguette Specialist in Bangbae

I’d known where Baguettine was for ages, but this isn’t the sort of neighborhood you’d expect a seriously good bakery in, and I wasn’t expecting much of the baguettes either, so I only got round to going now. And going this time, it turned out to be a really lovely place.

The entrance

From the outside it isn’t easy to tell what the place even is. The sign isn’t flashy, the potted plants block the view, and you can’t see much inside either. So even walking right past it you’d take it for a flower shop and never guess it was a bakery.

The bread

But once you step inside, the level of the bread is no joke.

The bread

The baguettes had already sold out, and what was left were the small loaves they call baguettines.

The pain de campagne

They look beautiful, and the prices are really good too.

The interior

Inside

They’ve fitted it out with real care.

The table

They’ve got taste.

The menu

You can get coffee, and there’s soup as well.

The timetable for when the bread comes out

If you want a baguette you have to time your visit right. But I want to buy the other things too.. which probably means it’s best to come twice.

Walnut and blueberry baguettine

This is exactly the hard-crusted style of bread I love. Crisp and nutty, the baguettine had a properly addictive flavor. To think a place like this existed in Korea.. that was my honest reaction.

Focaccia

It looked like it would do nicely as a meal.

Fig pain de campagne

A generous size and it tastes great too. Honestly, why did it take me this long to visit.. I really regret it.. I should have gone much sooner.
