Harakado in Harajuku

Harakado is a new building in Harajuku.

The BOSS x Ohtani collab

Harajuku harakado.

There’s nothing here I’d actually buy, but it looks like a decent collab. Lately I keep seeing posts saying Ohtani’s airport fashion is a bit off these days, and it turns out that’s all the BOSS collab stuff.

I don’t remember there being much here before, but now there’s this big building.

First floor

I don’t really know my brands, so…

Oh, this cap…

Harajuku harakado.

This is the cap that got famous after Min Hee-jin, the K-pop producer, wore it to a press conference. Turns out it’s a brand they don’t sell in Korea. The pros really are on another level when it comes to taste and inside info.

The brand is called ’47.

Womenswear…

Harajuku harakado.

Wow, there’s barely any fabric to these… Harajuku, all right…

No idea what brand this is, but…

the styling is nice.

TENGA LAND

Harajuku harakado.

I can’t believe TENGA opened a physical store this big… very Harajuku, that.

Looks like an art project

is what it’s called, apparently

Inside

Harajuku harakado.

Here’s the surprising part: normally when someone puts up a building in a spot like this, they cram it full of shops to make the money back, but this floor is a cafe. And it isn’t even expensive. So right in the middle of Harajuku there’s now a space where you can sit and take it easy for very little… maybe that’s only possible because it’s a pop-up space? I don’t think I’ve seen this pattern before.

The decor

Harajuku harakado.

Nicely done.

The view

Butterflies

Harajuku harakado.

Good taste.

The Ayataka green tea pop-up (Ayataka is Coca-Cola Japan’s bottled green tea)

This kind of vibe

Harajuku harakado.

There are a huge number of young people here.

The view

Harajuku harakado.

For now, at least, it seems to have succeeded at drawing a crowd. I’m curious how it goes from here.

Food court

Food court

Harajuku harakado.

It has a slightly temporary, thrown-together feel to it. The prices weren’t bad, probably because they’re aiming at a younger crowd.
